Frequently Asked Questions

DO I NEED MY OWN INSTRUMENT?

We have 2 full drum kits and individual practice pads available for drum lessons.

For music production there is an Ableton Push unit and Ableton Live 10, along with various microphones used alongside an iMac running Logic Pro. There are also keyboards and other sound modules that can be used. Should anybody want to bring an instrument or Vinyl/CD to record or sample then that is great!

For guitar lessons, guitars can be provided (electric and nylon string acoustic). Although if you would prefer to bring your own guitar then that is happily encouraged. Please remember to state if you are left-handed so provisions can be made.

Ukuleles are also provided by us for lessons, but again please let us know if you are left-handed so provisions can be made.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN MY FIRST LESSON / CONSULTATION?

The consultation will enable us to meet and discuss your expectations, establish what level you are at, and how I can help you to get better on your chosen instrument. And of course actually playing instruments!

WILL YOU KEEP ME UP-TO-DATE ON MY CHILD’S PROGRESS?

Each learner will have a Music House copy book detailing progress and targets from each private lesson, and of course, should you have any questions at any point we are more than happy to discuss everything with you.

CAN I CANCEL A SCHEDULED LESSON?

You can cancel a scheduled session, however you will be liable for the full cost of the lesson if less than 24hrs notice is given. Click here to read our terms and conditions.

CAN I START MID-WAY THROUGH THE TERM?

Yes, and we will pro-rata the fee. We wouldn’t advise starting group classes mid-way through term as there is a progression route from beginning to end, however please feel free to get in touch to discuss.

CAN I CHANGE MY LESSON TIME OR DAY?

Yes, if for some reason you can’t make a scheduled session, with ample notice (more than 24hrs) we will endeavour to arrange a suitable alternative

IS THERE PARKING?

There is limited parking available on site, suitable for individual lessons, but not for group classes. However, there is parking very close by at the main Llandeilo Car Park (26 Crescent Rd, SA19 6HN).

CAN I WAIT WHILE MY CHILD HAS A LESSON?

Unfortunately we can’t accommodate people waiting at the house while lessons are taking place. However, we are in the centre of Llandeilo with many cafes, bars and shops to browse close by.

WOULD YOU TEACH IN THE STUDENTS HOME ON THEIR OWN INSTRUMENT?

Yes! although please contact to arrange this as additional cost may be incurred due to travel times/distance.

CAN STUDENTS LEARN MUSIC THEY LIKE?

The entire aim of The Music House is to help people learn to play the music they like. For those whose tastes have not yet been refined we keep the music upbeat and positive.

WHAT GENRES DO YOU COVER?

We cover all popular music genres including (but not limited to) Pop, Rock, Reggae, Soul, R&B, Hip Hop/Rap and Electronic music.

IS IT BETTER TO START ON ACOUSTIC OR ELECTRIC GUITAR?

It’s better to start on whatever instrument you would like to learn to play. Although the electric and acoustic guitars are very similar, they are still different instruments. If you would like to play like this..

.. then you should start with electric. However, if you would like to play like this..

.. or this ..

.. then you should probably start with an acoustic.
